Our Beliefs

What We Believe

Thank you for your taking the time to visit the Church of Christ at Jackson Street online. Our mantra is “Making Disciples to Make a Difference.” We strive to emulate the 1st century church by following examples found in the New Testament. Everyone must live in this world but real and eternal life comes only through Jesus Christ. To put on Christ and embrace the gift of salvation, we believe that one must be baptized and continue walking faithfully on a daily basis. Therefore, we rejoice in the opportunity to congregate weekly to worship him in spirit and in truth. We encourage you to fellowship with us and hope and pray that your search for a church home is over!

We believe the Bible is the inspired and engrafted word of God. Paul states in Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” We believe Christ is the head of the church, that he died for it, and one day he is coming back for HIS church.

There are so many ways that you can be involved and we want you to grow closer to God in our spiritual community. Please feel free to search our website to learn more of what we are all about. Come be a part of a ministry and let’s work together to build his kingdom. We are a family. We are many members of one body. We are the Church of Christ.

HOW TO BE SAVED

Hear the Gospel

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

BELIEVE

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Repent

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.  Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Confess

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Be Baptized

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?   Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Live Faithfully

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
